At First Baptist Church Greeneville, God brings clarity to our vision with His love. This is a vibrant, Christ-centered, Bible-believing, loving congregation which has based its approach to ministry upon Christ's own commission:

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV)

First Baptist Church Greeneville follows and adheres to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention.

The First Baptist Church of Greeneville had its beginning in the early 1870's when one E.W. Headrick came to Greeneville. Mr. Headrick and his wife, being staunch Baptists, missed the fellowship with others of like faith and resolved to aid in the institution of a Baptist church in Greeneville. In 1871, Mr. Headrick purchased a lot on Summer Street, and the construction of the new church was begun.
