Dear Church Family,

Due to the surge in Covid-19 cases, the number of active Covid-19 cases in our county, and the increase of the average per-capita number of new Covid-19 cases in our county, First Baptist Church of Greeneville will return to on-line only through the month of August. Please understand that this is a very difficult decision for all involved. The church office will remain open and our staff will continue to be accessible to meet the needs of the congregation. The only change will be that our in-person gatherings will not meet for the month of August. This decision will be reevaluated the week of August 23. This is not a political decision. We have all been in prayer as we seek God’s guidance in this decision. I have also personally consulted with leading medical personnel in our area. Knowing that our city and county leaders are taking more aggressive measures to mitigate the spread of this virus, it is necessary for the Christian community to do everything possible to pursue the well-being of our city. Even when the children of God were exiled in Babylon, they were given this instruction by the Lord… “Pursue the well-being of the city I have deported you to. Pray to the Lord on its behalf, for when it thrives, you will thrive.” (Jeremiah 29:7, CSB)

The church staff will continue to do everything possible to provide online worship services, along with online Sunday school and discipleship materials on our website at (  The public can also follow our church Facebook page at (, and subscribe to our Vimeo page at ( to keep up with all current and past videos. We will also continue our weekly radio broadcast. Our worship service videos will be posted every Sunday morning.

Our goal is to provide a Christian witness and pursue the well-being of our city and when at all possible to protect the lives of those we love and those who are at greatest risk. We all know that the church is the body of Christ at work in the world, not the building on Main Street. However, we also know that the building is where the church assembles together to refocus on what is most important. No one longs for “that day” when we assemble together again more than I do. If there is anything that I can do for you during these difficult days, please let me know.

His servant your friend,

Please, check this site regularly for updates.

At First Baptist Church Greeneville, God brings clarity to our vision with His love. This is a vibrant, Christ-centered, Bible-believing, loving congregation which has based its approach to ministry upon Christ's own commission:

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV)

Welcome! We are excited that you have taken the time to check us out at First Baptist Church Greeneville. Take a minute and look around, but if you really want to see what we’re about, then you have to come for a visit. You might see suits and dresses, or you might see t-shirts and jeans. No matter. Come just as you are, and you will be greeted by a smiling face. We have three morning services on Sundays at 8:00 (traditional), 9:30 (blended), and 11:00 (contemporary). There is also a Prayer Meeting that gathers on Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m., along with children's and youth programs. We look forward to meeting you soon.

Our mission, here at First Baptist Church, is to equip and mobilize believers to effectively make disciples locally and ultimately globally. At First Baptist Church, we believe that Sunday school groups provide the best avenue to make disciples, so we seek to connect every attender to a Sunday school ministry.  We also offer other opportunities for believers to connect throughout the week.

We desire for all ministry groups to actively seek to Share the Word, Show the Word, Teach the Word, and Serve the World together.  With numerous opportunities to minister, your family can create a connection with God, building relationships with other believers, and finding help and hope when your family needs it most.

Check out our full list of events! We have a lot of exciting things coming up. You will not want to miss a single thing. Make sure you stay tuned for updates all year long! We hope to see you out here.
